Latvia in general can be characterized as an agricultural country, having great potential in developing sustainable farming and living according to principles of permaculture. Lately we have started to pay more attention to individual farmers working at home and contributing to economic growth of the country. Within the framework of the project “Seeds for the Future“,  during winter period 2012 and 2013 we organized a set of workshops for our local interested people about fruit and vegetable growing and processing. We invited lecturers from Latvia State Institute of Fruit-Growing, who provided very good training courses.  In total we had five one-day seminars dealing with growing and processing of berries, fruit and vegetables, such as pears, apples, cherries, raspberries etc.)
